I photographed Spanish Horses in southern Spain while watching a group of horses galloping together. What caught my attention was the speed of the herd and the way the horses seemed to move almost as one across the scene.
Rather than trying to freeze every detail, I wanted to keep a sense of motion in the photograph. The slight blur gives the image energy and helps convey the pace of the horses, while the panoramic format gives them room to travel through the frame.
I have always enjoyed photographing horses when they are running freely. In this image it was the combination of strength, speed and the rhythm of the herd that interested me most.
