I photographed Sunrise in Motion at dawn on the Dorset coast. The colour across the horizon was changing quickly, with warm orange light appearing beneath cooler blues and softer tones in the sky.
Rather than photograph the sunrise in a completely literal way, I used a slow shutter speed to soften the detail and introduce a sense of movement through the sea and sky. I liked the way the colours began to stretch across the frame while the horizon still remained recognisable.
For me, the photograph is less about recording a particular sunrise and more about capturing the movement, colour and atmosphere of those few minutes as the day begins.
