For Sunrise in Motion IV, I wanted to work with the colour and movement of dawn rather than make a conventional sunrise photograph. I used a slow shutter speed and deliberate movement to soften the scene and allow the colours to blend together.
What attracted me most was the combination of warm orange and yellow light near the horizon with the deeper purple and blue tones above. The movement softened much of the detail and gave the photograph a more abstract quality.
I particularly like the sense of calm in this image. Although the colours are quite strong, the softened sea and sky give the whole photograph a very gentle feeling.
