I was watching the surf on a winter day when the sky began to change dramatically. Areas of blue and orange started to appear through the darker clouds, transforming the whole scene in front of me.
As I was photographing the changing light, a lone surfer ran across the beach and into the sea. I liked how small his figure looked beneath the enormous sky, and I waited until he was isolated against the water before taking the photograph.
For me, Electric Sky is as much about the weather and light as it is about surfing. The colour was constantly changing, and the solitary surfer heading out into the winter sea gave the photograph the sense of scale and atmosphere that I wanted.
