I took this photograph in Swanage Bay, Dorset, on a beautiful summer evening. The sea was wonderfully calm, and what really caught my attention was the soft pastel colours in the clouds and the gentle light spreading across the water.
I particularly loved the delicate pinks and blues in the sky and their subtle reflections on the sea. There was something very peaceful about the whole scene, and I wanted to capture that feeling. I kept the composition simple, with a wide expanse of sky above the quiet water.
I've photographed this coastline many times over the years, often in wild and dramatic conditions, but I enjoy evenings like this just as much. The sea has so many different moods, and it's moments like these that remind me why I never tire of photographing it.
