I photographed Wild Thing from the water, close to the approaching swell. A dark ridge of water was rising in front of me while the wind lifted the spray from the top and sunlight scattered across the surface.
What I liked was the contrast between the solid shape and power of the wave and the much softer spray above it. Being in the sea gave me a very different viewpoint and made the wave feel much more immediate.
I chose black and white because it strengthened the shape of the breaking water while keeping the fine detail and texture in the spray.
